Police Officer

Now accepting applications for the full-time position of Police Officer, to establish an eligibility list for future placement (valid for up to 12 months from the date of eligibility). Position Responsibilities:

Conducts criminal investigations and apprehends criminals.
Regulates traffic and enforces traffic laws.
Conducts preventive patrol.
Conducts or assists with investigations and/or responds to criminal and civil complaints.
Makes arrests as required by law; processes prisoners.
Makes required reports and takes affidavits; maintains logs and ledgers.
Receives, assists, and transmits emergency calls by radio or telephone.
Operates law enforcement equipment and instruments. Maintains required licenses and certificates, including a valid Ohio driver's license, Ohio Peace Officer Training Certificate, firearms proficiency, the ability to be bonded, and physical fitness.
The work schedule will include rotating shifts, including weekends/evenings/holidays.

Education Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or a closely related field, or equivalent;
or possess current certification through the Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission (or out-of-state equivalent) with one year of experience as a peace officer;
or four years of continuous military service in either an active duty, guard, or reserve capacity and have obtained or are eligible to receive an honorable discharge;
or two years of continuous military service in either an active duty, guard, or reserve capacity and have obtained or are eligible to receive an honorable discharge and completion of at least 60 semester hours (equivalent to an associate’s degree) from an accredited college or university.

Minimum Qualifications:

At least 21 years of age or will reach that age by the completion of the academy.
Successful completion of the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy or meet qualifications for admittance to an approved OPOTA-certified training academy.
Possession of a valid Ohio driver’s license.

Up to $5,000 sign-on bonus for LATERAL ENTRY CANDIDATES with at least one year of experience.

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range is $35.12 per hour - $49.28 per hour, plus an excellent benefits package as mentioned below. The work schedule will include rotating shifts, including weekends/evenings/holidays.
