The Upper Arlington Division of Police is currently building an eligibility list for the position of Police Officer. Eligibility Lists, upon approval of the Upper Arlington Civil Service Commission, are valid for a period of one (1) year with a possible extension of an additional year. We are accepting National Testing Network scores from April 1st - May 10th, 2025. The Physical Ability Test, a mandatory component of our hiring process, is scheduled for May 3rd and May 10th, 2025.
All candidates seeking consideration MUST complete the application and PHQ with National Testing Network. Candidates that are selected to go further in the process will then be asked to complete an application with the City of Upper Arlington.

Lateral Candidates can choose to participate in the written examination. If you choose not to take the exam, you will proceed to the next step with the lowest examination score. You will still be eligible for additional points under Civil Service.

Schooling Prior and Post Hiring: The candidate must successfully complete, or have completed, a Basic Peace Officer Training Academy selected by the Chief of Police and approved by the Ohio Peace Officers Training Council.
Selection Process: The police officer selection process (which takes approximately two months) consists of eight individual steps. A candidate is required to successfully complete each step of the process before being placed on the final eligibility list.

Qualifications: There are certain basic requirements of the applicant for the position of Police Officer. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following. The applicant must:Possess an acceptable driving record. Department Information: The Upper Arlington, Ohio Division of Police provides 24-hour service and is an integral part of developing and maintaining a safe and secure community through the cooperative efforts of many departments and community organizations. The division proudly provides a wide range of police services and programs to residents, visitors, and members of the business community. "Contendite Ductum" is the Latin inscription on the seal of the Upper Arlington Police Division patch. This motto means "Strive for Leadership" and it represents the attitude held by those associated with this agency.The division is staffed by 53 sworn officers who are professionally trained and certified by the State of Ohio; and, by law, are also declared to be law enforcement officers of the State and conservators of peace with the authority to arrest. In addition to sworn staff, there are 13 full-time and seven part-time civilian staff who provide other support to the division's operation.
