Department Overview
The Merrill Police Department is a close-knit family of professionals dedicated to serving Merrill consistent with our guiding principles. Members of the Merrill Police Deparment enjoy a very supportive community and City government who are just as committed to our mission.
Each officer is given the training necessary to provide capable police services throughout our community. Additionally, every officer is supplemented in ability to carry an investigative case load. This builds the skills and abilities of our average police officer beyond that of comparable agencies, beyond that of most agencies that conduct no investigations at the patrol level. Police Officers can participate in a number of community events throughout the year and have the ability to join special functions/duties/roles such as Instructors, FTO's, SRO's, Detectives, and promotional opportunities.
The Merrill Police Department is authorized for 23 sworn officers in 2025 consisting of Chief, Captain, Det Lt. (4) Patrol Lt's, (2) Detectives, (2) SRO's, and (12) Officers.
