Department Overview
The Tri-State Fire Protection District operates as an Illinois special district unit of local government. The District provides fire prevention, fire suppression, rescue, special unit response, and emergency medical services. A three-member Board of Trustees elected at large from the community serves as the governing corporate authority.
The Tri-State Fire Protection District encompasses a 27 square-mile jurisdiction located in parts of DuPage and Cook Counties. It operates out of four (4) stations, serving a residential population of approximately 50,000, and protects a mix of residential, light industrial and commercial development as well as portions of the DesPlaines River and the Sanitary & Ship Canal. The Fire District covers the communities of Burr Ridge, Darien, Willowbrook and Willow Springs. The District employs 62 commissioned and 9 non-commissioned personnel. The District responded to 6,507 emergency incidents in 2024. The District is a member of MABAS Division 10 and is an ISO Class 2 agency.
