Department Overview:Sandy City Fire Department serves a population of over 105,000 citizens living in 24.13 square miles along the Wasatch Front. Our 103 career members presently staff five fire stations and administrative offices with an array of response apparatus, an assortment of specialized equipment, and staff administrative positions. In Fiscal Year 2023, Sandy Fire responded to over 9,356 emergencies, of which over 80% are medical emergencies.

Necessary Certifications:MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Entry-level position. Certificates/Licenses for Firefighter/EMT: Requires valid Utah Driver’s License; and state of Utah Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification. Certificates/Licenses for Firefighter/Paramedic: Requires valid Utah Driver’s License; and state of Utah Paramedic certification or National Registered Paramedic.
Additional Requirements:Must successfully complete Sandy City required recruit training academy class. This training will include: Utah State Firefighter I and II Certification Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations Level Certification Apparatus Driver Operator (ADO) Wildland Firefighter Certification
