Position Title: Corrections Deputy
Testing on NTN will be open until June 8, 2025. Candidates are required to complete NTN’s REACT Test, PSSA and PHQ to move forward in the hiring process.
Salary Information: Starting salary is $66,701.97 for a correctional deputy. After a year of service, the pay increases to $76,103.45

This position is part of the IL Fraternal Order of Police Labor Council for Correctional Deputies Collective Bargaining unit. The current contract expires on November 30, 2028

The Testing Process:
The testing process includes a written exams via NTN, C.A.T (Corrections Agility Test), oral interview, an in-depth application and background investigation, polygraph exam, fingerprints, psychological exam, and full medical exam including a drug-screening test will. All will be performed before being hired.
Written Exam:
The written exam and other exams component for the position of Correctional Deputy will be conducted through the National Testing Network Website. A grade of 70% or higher in each section is necessary for the applicant to pass and continue with the testing process.

Oral Interview and C.A.T. Test (Corrections Agility Test):
Candidates who successfully pass the written exam with a 70% or higher will be scheduled for an interview and agility test. Both the interview and agility test will be held on the same day. You will be notified via email once the written exam has been completed.
The Kendall County Sheriff’s Office C.A.T. test will be held on the same day as the oral interview and is loosely based on the IL Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board P.O.W.E.R Test. The applicant has one of two options: 1) provide a copy of successfully passing the P.O.W.E.R. test dated between 06.08.24 and 06.08.25 or 2) Take the C.A.T. test on the same day of the oral interview.
The Corrections Agility Test is comprised of:
- Sit and Reach – 14
- 1 Minute Sit Ups – 24
- 1 Mile Run – 12 minutes or less
- Maximum Bench Press
o 50% of body weight for females
o 70% of body weight for males
After the applicant has successfully passed the written exam, corrections agility test and the oral interview, the applicant will be placed on a certified list of applicants. Once certified the applicant will be on the list until a position is available at which time the applicant will finish the testing process. The eligibility list will be good for 18 months from the date of the certification.
Testing Dates for Oral Interview and C.A.T. Test will be determined after the successfully passing the written portion of the process.
