Job Requirements
Age: 21US Citizen: YesHigh School Grad/GED: YesValid State Driver’s License: Yes (IL)Ability to Read/Speak English: YesCollege: Must possess an Associate’s Degree or 60 hours of college credit from an institution accredited by the US Department of Education.
Academy Certification: Must be equivalent training and hours to the requirements by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training & Standards Board.
Prior Experience: Must be a current, full-time, sworn, municipal police officer, state trooper, or county sheriff’s deputy who possesses a law enforcement officer certification by the Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board with substantially equivalent skills and abilities as that of a Village of a Barrington Police Officer. (Part-time certification, or employment as any type of law enforcement officer other than that specified above, does not meet this requirement). Must be in good standing with their current department.
Additional Requirements:
Applicants shall be United States citizens or non-citizens who are eligible and permitted to work in the United States and able to meet all other qualifications for the position of police officer.
Hiring Process:
Phases of the selection process include a physical test (POWER) and an oral interview. Applicants must pass the POWER test administered by the Barrington Police Department to be eligible to sit for the written examination.
