Department Information:Campbell County Fire Department is a "Combination Fire Department" consisting of 45 full-time staff, more than 45 part-time staff, and multiple support personnel. We provide structural and wildland fire response, rescue, first responder EMS and hazardous materials response services to the City of Gillette, Town of Wright and unincorporated Campbell County. Our department includes 10 structural fire stations (3 are staffed), a training center, a fleet maintenance facility and several rural wildland fire support stations. Campbell County Fire Department also hosts the State of Wyoming Regional Emergency Response Team One. Advanced life support and transport EMS is provided by the Campbell County Memorial Hospital.

Job Description – FLSA Non-ExemptGENERAL SUMMARYWorks with the Fire Marshal within the jurisdiction of Campbell County. Inspects new and existing buildings/structures (businesses, schools, apartments, etc.), as well as construction sites, to search for fire hazards and to ensure that federal, state, and local fire codes are met. Tests and inspects fire protection and fire extinguishing equipment. Conducts or assists with fire origin and cause investigations. Writes incident reports and performs records management. Provides fire prevention training and presentations to the community. Assists with and/or conducts fire origin and cause investigations. Maintains required licenses and certifications. such as: International Code Council – Fire Inspector I, International Association of Arson Investigators – Fire Investigation Technician, State of Wyoming – Emergency Medical Technician, State of Wyoming – Firefighter I, and State of Wyoming – Firefighter II.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESThe intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.• Inspects new and existing buildings to locate hazardous conditions and fire code violations, such as accumulations of combustible material, electrical wiring problems, and inadequate or non-functional fire exits.• Identifies corrective actions necessary to bring properties into compliance with applicable fire codes, laws, regulations, and standards. Explains these measures to property owners.• Conducts inspections and acceptance testing of newly installed fire protection systems.• Inspects and tests fire protection systems to verify that such systems are installed in accordance with appropriate laws, codes, ordinances, regulations, and standards.• Conducts fire code compliance follow-ups to ensure that corrective actions have been taken in cases where violations were found.• Inspects properties that store, handle, and use hazardous materials to ensure compliance.• Writes detailed reports of fire inspections performed, fire code violations observed, and corrective recommendations offered. Maintains necessary records and reports.• Performs records management, including completing inspection documentation, updating inspection forms, updating property files, and managing 3rd party inspection reports pertaining to fire protection systems. • Serves as a technical resource to the construction industry, local businesses, and residents on fire code compliance, including providing proper information, answers, presentations, and/or training pertaining to fire prevention and fire code compliance.• Conducts or assists with fire origin and cause investigations and documentation.• Provides incident response ranging from minor to major life and safety events in all hazards.• Administers basic life support to injured or ill persons. • Performs related work as required.
