Age: 21 - 35, with certain exceptions for candidates over maximum age
US Citizen: No
High School Grad/GED: Yes
Valid State Driver’s License: Yes
Ability to Read/Speak English: Yes
Vision: 20/20
POWER test card (dated no earlier than six months prior to date of application and no later than the date of the initial interview)

College:

Associate's Degree or 60 hours of college course work - OR -
24 month honorable Active Duty - OR -
180 days of Active Duty in combat - OR -
6 months or more of Village of Glencoe employment

Hiring Process:

This is a continuous testing exam, as such, candidates may complete the exam and application at any time. The Village will pull a list of passing candidates at intervals as determined by the Public Safety Director to begin the next steps of the testing process, as follows:

Candidates must provide all relevant documentation at the time of their application
Candidates present for initial interviews by staff (must receive 35 out of 50 points)
Interview scores added to the candidates written exam score for a total score
Initial eligibility list is created ranking the candidates in order of their total score
Candidates may submit preference points
Final eligibility list is created ranking the candidates with preference points added
Candidates submit to a background check and polygraph in order of total score
Candidates are interviewed by the Public Safety Commission
Candidates are offered employment conditionally based upon psychological and physical exams
