Job Classification: Entry Level Firefighter
The Colorado Springs Fire Department is currently developing an entry-level hiring list for an anticipated fire academy in July 2026 for the position of Firefighter Trainee.
Candidates must complete, by March 19, 2026, 11:59p.m., via the National Testing Network:
· FireTEAM test
· Upload current Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) certification
· Upload current National Registry EMT-Basic or Paramedic or State of Colorado EMT-Basic or Paramedic certification
· CPR/BLS Certification
· If you are a Paramedic, you will need to also upload your ACLS certification
CSFD currently applies the following weights to the FireTEAM sections:
60% Human Relations40% PSSA 1Mechanical – Pass/Fail (70% or higher)Math – Pass/Fail (70% or higher)Reading – Pass/Fail (70% or higher)
It is the candidate’s responsibility to ensure their NTN score is valid when the posting closes on March 19, 2026, at 11:59 p.m.
Firefighter Candidate Minimum Qualifications: The following minimum qualifications must be met to participate in the firefighter selection process.
*Only a CPAT licensed by the International Association of Firefighters (IAFF) and the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC) will be accepted.
