JOB ANNOUNCEMENT – POLICE OFFICER
Open Until Filled

The City of Sutherlin is currently accepting applications for the position of Police Officer (Entry-Level or Lateral).

Minimum Qualifications:

Must be a U.S. Citizen and at least 21 years of age
Possess a valid Oregon driver’s license
High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications:

Oregon DPSST Certified Officers
Military Veterans (DD-214 required for preference)
Degree in Criminal Justice or a closely related field

Compensation & Benefits:

Salary Range: $64,896 – $87,084 annually
Additional Pay: Up to 10% Certification/Education pay

Testing & Application Process:

Applicants must complete (within the past 12 months) a written FrontLine test administered by the National Testing Network (NTN) OR possess a four-year post-secondary degree issued by an accredited, degree-granting college or university recognized by the Oregon Office of Degree Authorization under the provisions of ORS 348-604.

The Sutherlin Police Department offers testing services for Police Officer positions through the National Testing Network (NTN). To register with NTN and schedule a test, go to www.nationaltestingnetwork.com, select 'Find Jobs', select Law Enforcement Jobs, and sign up for the Sutherlin Police Department.

When you visit the www.nationaltestingnetwork.com website:

Complete the NTN registration process and schedule your test.
Review all information related to the Sutherlin Police Department Police Officer position, including minimum requirements, salary, and benefits.
Review detailed information about the testing process.

Review the Frequently Asked Questions and take an online practice test (if desired).

Upon completion of your scheduled exam, scores are automatically forwarded to the Sutherlin Police. Candidates who attain a passing score on the entry-level exam will be placed on the Sutherlin Police eligibility list. Sutherlin City will contact candidates on the list and will invite them to participate in further stages of the selection process.

Applicants must run the Oregon Physical Abilities Test (ORPAT) with the Sutherlin Police Department on a date provided to the applicant after successfully passing the NTN exam, or
Applicants must provide the Sutherlin Police Department with proof of successful completion of the following physical proficiency from the administering agency: Recent (with the past 12 months) ORPAT completion through an Oregon Law Enforcement organization or authorized testing agency (NTN).
Applicants must complete the "Application for Employment - City of Sutherlin at www.sutherlinoregon.gov.

Relevant certifications (e.g., DPSST, ORPAT/NCJOS scores)
Veteran’s Preference Form & DD-214 (if applicable)
Copies of college degree(s), if applicable
NTN written test (within the last 12 months)
ORPAT physical test (within the last 12 months)
