Job Classification: Firefighter/EMT or Paramedic Full Time

The Mohave Valley Fire Department is currently hiring for Firefighter/EMT or Paramedic Full Time. This position requires FireTEAM and a valid NTN CPAT. This position will remain OPEN UNTIL FILLED.

Salary Information: Firefighter/EMT Starting at $49,933.00 Firefighter/Parmedic starting at $61,922.90

Area Information: We are a small Rural / Farming Community along the Colorado River on the borders of Arizona, California, and Nevada. We are close to both Lake Havasu and Lake Mohave. Bullhead City, AZ and Laughlin, NV are both local communities. Las Vegas is 90 miles from the area.

Necessary Certifications:

Arizona Firefighter 1 & 2 (or equivalent)
Valid Arizona State / National Registry EMT - Basic or Paramedic Certification
NWCG Firefighter Type 2 (or obtain within one year)

Specific Disqualifiers/Behaviors:

Felony, Criminal Activity Disqualifiers

No Felony Convictions in last 10 years
No DUI Convictions last 5 years
No drug use arrest or conviction of illegal substances prior 5 years

Driving Disqualifiers

Poor driving record based on Class A and Class B violations
Suspension or revocation of driver’s license in last 5 years

Selection Process:
Those applicants who successfully pass the examination process shall be placed on an eligibility list. The top candidates chosen will be called for an internal oral board examination.

Submit application by established deadline
CPAT certification withing previous 12 months
Passing score of entry level written exam (100 points maximum)
Oral Interview (100 points maximum)
Current Arizona or EMT Basic or Paramedic certification
Pass a Fitness for Duty Physical and Drug Screening
Veterans preference points

The Fire Chief may use the Rule of Three in selecting the final candidate for the position from the eligibility list. Thus, the Fire Chief may use his/her discretion in identifying the best candidate from any of the top three candidates on the Eligibility List.

Additional Information:
Full time employment working a 48/96 schedule
