Wood County is currently building an ongoing eligibility list for Road Patrol Deputy.

The department requires the candidate PHQ*. You can access the questionnaire through your candidate account. The PHQ should be completed as soon as possible, so there is not a delay in your process.

*Criminal history portion is not required.

Salary Information: Start $31.48/hr. then step increases starting at 3 years. Wages negotiated annually with Union.

Department Overview:

The Wood County Sheriff's Office is a modern progressive office that handles corrections, road patrol, civil paper service, and dispatch for Wood County, Ohio. The Sheriff's Office currently deploys 124 deputies into its core assignments plus its Detective Bureau, DARE/SRO, SRT, and CCW/SORN units. Last year the Sheriff's Office had 34,243 calls for service and 2,410 inmates booked into its corrections facility.

Wood County covers 617.4 square miles and is situated just south of Toledo, Ohio. Must obtain CEU's annually as required by Ohio Law and/or the Sheriff's Office.

Felony, Criminal Activity Disqualifiers:
No felony convictions (expunged records included).

Driving Disqualifiers:

Must be insurable under Wood County's insurance carrier.
No OMVI arrest within the last 3 years.
No DUS or Reckless Operation arrests within the last 3 years.
Multiple traffic arrests that may make one uninsurable.

Drug Use Disqualifiers:

No misdemeanor drug convictions within the last 5 years.
No felony drug convictions.
Drug screen required on conditional offer then randomly thereafter.

Outside employment with permission.
