The Genoa Township Police Department is continuously hiring for the position of full time Police Officer. Now accepting applications from OPOTA certified and non-OPOTA certified candidates. Department Overview: The Genoa Township Police Department is a CALEA Accredited community-oriented police agency that provides professional, full service policing with highly trained personnel. The Police Department proactively patrols 21.5 square miles and serves a population of approximately 27,000 residents. The Police Department operates a Patrol Bureau, Detective Bureau, Therapy Dog Unit, Bike Patrol, and is an active member of a multi-jurisdictional tactical unit, and crisis negotiation unit. The police department recently passed a building levy and moved into a state of the art facility in 2020. The police department offers an on-duty workout program and officers currently work 10-hour shifts.
Area Information: The Township is a fast-growing township; having increased its population from roughly 5,000 to 27,000 over the past two decades. Area attractions include Hoover Reservoir, a favorite spot for local recreational fisherman, and two private golf courses. Genoa Township is also extremely close to Interstates 71 and 270 as well as shopping, dining and other entertainment venues. The Township is in the process of developing recreational facilities for its residents, including a 20-acre park, athletic fields and a walking trail.
