Maumee Police Division Patrol Officer Position
The Maumee Civil Service Commission announces an open, non-competitive examination for police officer positions for the City of Maumee, Ohio. A police officer enforces the laws and performs related tasks to preserve the safety and security of the city and its citizens. The purpose of this examination is to establish an eligibility list for the position of police officer in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Maumee Civil Service Commission.
Education: Applicants must have an associate degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university. The minimum equivalent is 90 quarter hours or 60 semester hours. Official college transcripts must be provided with candidate's application. Must be able to obtain an Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy (OPOTA) certificate. Applicants who are not OPOTA certified may be considered for an opportunity to have their academy tuition paid for by the city to attend the academy with an employment offer.
Eligibility list: After the list is established, eligible candidates are certified by the appointing authority to fill any vacancy or vacancies. Each appointment shall be subject to successfully passing a physical examination, drug screening, and a psychological assessment conducted by consultants of the city's choice. At no cost to the applicant.
Salary: The current annual salary range for police officer is $76,590 - $89,575.

Non-OPOTA certified applicants may be considered for an opportunity to have their tuition paid for by the city to attend the Academy with an employment agreement (to be discussed).
The City of Maumee Police Division requires each candidate to obtain Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy Certificate. Official College Transcripts, Certified Copy of Birth Certificate and Copy of Driver’s License.

New employees will be required to serve a probationary period of 2080 hours worked after successful completion of the field training officer program. An individual who poses a direct threat to the health and safety of themselves or others in the workplace will be deemed not qualified for the position.
The Maumee Police Division offers full testing services for the position of police officer through National Testing Network, Inc., at a cost of $65.00 to each candidate. To fill out an application and schedule a test, go to www.nationaltestingnetwork.com, select “Law Enforcement” and sign up for the “City of Maumee Police Division”. The test must be completed by Monday October 6th,, 2025.

Maumee Police Division will be holding 2 open house events to answer questions and give a guided tour of the police division. The open house dates are September 13th, 2025 @ 11:00am and September 20th, 2025 @11:00am. Open house events will be held in the training room on the 2nd floor of the police department (109 E. Dudley St, Maumee, OH 43537). To register for an open house, email aclocksin@maumee.org with the date you will be attending.

Upon completion of the entry level exam, all candidate scores are automatically forwarded to City of Maumee. Candidates who attain a passing score on the entry level exam, have submitted all required paperwork and meet the minimum qualifications, will be placed on the City of Maumee Patrol Officer Civil Service eligibility list.
National Testing Network is a service provided to conduct entry level testing in a standardized, professional environment. The National Testing Network does not replace the City of Maumee’s responsibility and decision making in the testing process.
