Algonquin Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District is currently building an ongoing eligibility list for Part-time Firefighter/EMT-B.
The department requires a valid CPAT, within last 12 months (at the time of conditional employment offer)
Salary Information: Starting pay $19.64 /hr ($20.74/hr if Paramedic).

Department Overview: The District, located in McHenry and Kane Counties along the Fox River, encompasses a 22 square mile jurisdiction approximately 40 miles northwest of the City of Chicago. Operating out of three stations, the ALFPD serves a residential population of approximately 40,000 and protects a mix of residential, light industrial and commercial development by providing effective and efficient fire protection, fire prevention, emergency medical services, and specialized response to emergency incidents. The District employs 61 commissioned and non-commissioned firefighting personnel and 4 civilian staff members, who responded to 3,898 emergency incidents in 2016.

Valid ILLINOIS Driver's License : Yes
Ability to Read/Speak English : Yes
Vision : Medical evaluation including vision and other requirements will be in accordance to the most current National Fire Protection Association Standard on Comprehensive Occupational Medical Program for Fire Districts (NFPA 1582).
Academy Certification : Yes, Firefighter Basic Operations (Firefighter II) from the Illinois Office of State Fire Marshal Certification.
Necessary Certifications : At a minimum candidates must possess the following certifications prior to applying:
Specific Disqualifiers/Behaviors : Felony, Criminal Activity Disqualifiers: No Felony or Criminal convictions, probation or supervision.Driving Disqualifiers: Must have a valid Illinois driver’s license and good driving record.Drug Use Disqualifiers: No illegal drug possession or record of illegal drug use.Employment Disqualifiers: Must pass a pre-employment medical evaluation including drug screening, psychological and polygraph examination and background investigation.Additional Disqualifiers: According to the current Collective Bargaining Agreement with the ALFPD and IAFF Local 3985, the ALFPD is not to employ any Part-time Firefighter that is employed as a Full-time Firefighter in another Department.
