Job Classification: Entry Level Deputy - (Jail or Patrol)
Salary Information: $77,729.60 Annually (Pay commensurate with certification, experience & training).

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office accepts applications for Recruit Deputy positions (Jail or Patrol) on a continuous basis. This means you may apply at any time!
We accept applications and hire on a continuous basis. Hire date is dependent on when applications are received, and successful completion of our hiring process which WILL include the NATIONAL TESTING NETWORK (NTN) LAW ENFORCEMENT-“FRONTLINE NATIONAL” test OR provide proof of a bachelor's degree to satisfy this requirement.

To qualify as a Patrol Lateral, candidates must possess a Basic Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training “DPSST” certification OR other equivalent local, state, or federal certification as a Police Officer or Sheriff's Deputy; Have completed a Field Training Program; Have at least one year of full-time equivalent (2080 hours) work experience as a certified corrections professional. Completion of required work experience must not have occurred greater than 12 months prior to the date of application submission.
Lateral applicants must provide a copy of their current Law Enforcement Certification and resume at time of application.

Recruit Deputy applicants must also take the NATIONAL TESTING NETWORK (NTN) LAW ENFORCEMENT-“FRONTLINE NATIONAL” test OR provide proof of bachelor's degree to satisify this requirement.
Recruit Deputy applicants are responsible for contacting NTN and arranging for their own testing.
If you already have a valid and current score (taken within the last 12 months), you may submit it instead of taking NTN again OR provide proof of a bachelor's degree.
Physical Abilities Test (PAT):Washington County Sheriff’s Office accepts all official PAT scores and does not limit its applicants to the Oregon ORPAT. Valid PAT testing from the following sources will be accepted:

Jail Recruit Deputies learn basic concepts of corrections, learn, and carry out procedures, rules, and regulations of the jail, including booking, prisoner care, security, and transportation.
Patrol Recruit Deputies learn basic aspects of law enforcement; learn the procedures, rules, and regulations of the Sheriff's Office; train in and perform patrol duties, and crime scene and traffic accident investigations.

Job Requirements
Age : Must be at least 21 years of age by hire date.
Citizenship Required :
High School Grad/GED : Must be a high school graduate or possess a General Educational Development (GED) certificate of high school equivalency.
Valid OREGON Driver's License : Must possess a driver's license valid in the State of Oregon and have an acceptable driving record.
Ability to Read/Speak English : Qualified applicants who are Bilingual/Bicultural are encouraged to apply. *Additional Bilingual Pay – $55 per pay period.
Vision : Not less than 20/200 in one eye or both eyes, corrected to 20/20 in both eyes combined.
College : Not required. *Incentive Pay – 2% to 8% for a combination of certification levels, training, college education and years of service.
