WORK SCHEDULE: Four (4) day work week, ten (10) hour a day basis

JOB SUMMARY:
The Monmouth Police Department is currently seeking highly motived and committed individuals with good communication and interpersonal skills to join our team as a Police Officer.
This position performs a variety of law enforcement duties and functions, such as responding to and investigating incident scenes; patrolling assigned areas; enforcing laws and ordinances; making arrests; preserving crime scene evidence; writing detailed police reports; testifying in court; working with and serving all members and visitors of this community. Salary Information:
$5,511.68 (Step 1) – $7,049.00 (Step 6), plus applicable premium pay

Department Overview: The Monmouth Police Department has an allotted full time staffing of up to sixteen (16) sworn officers, a Records Supervisor, Records Clerk / Evidence Technician, a full time Community Service Officer and a complement of up to six (6) Reserve Officers.
The Chief of Police, followed by a Lieutenant and four Sergeants assist with management duties by supervising patrol, investigations, and special projects. Current staffing allows for professional operations in the areas of patrol, crime prevention, and investigations. Two (2) officers are assigned to Detective positions working primarily felony investigations, and also serve as members of the Polk County Major Crimes Team.
Monmouth is situated in the fertile Willamette Valley and is in the heart of Oregon’s wine country. It is a growing town of over 11,000 people and home to Western Oregon University. Monmouth is uniquely located about an hour’s drive from many of the Pacific Northwest’s most esteemed features like the Oregon Coast and beautiful Mountain Ranges. Monmouth maintains a warm small town feel, while being close to major cities like Salem and Portland.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Age: 21
US Citizen: Yes, Per Oregon Law, an applicant must be able to obtain US Citizenship within 18 months of employment. To meet this requirement as a condition of hire, an applicant must demonstrate that he/she can obtain citizenship within the required timeframe.
High School Grad/GED: Must be a high school graduate or possess a General Education Development (GED) certificate of high school equivalency.
Valid OREGON State Driver’s License: Ability to obtain a valid Oregon State driver’s license. Must also possess a current driver’s license in the applicant’s state with an acceptable driving history.
Ability to Read/Speak English: Yes. Monmouth Police Department also offers bilingual incentive pay.
Vision: DPSST requirement of at least 20/30 corrected vision when tested using both eyes together. Must also be able to distinguish color vision as determined by DPSST (OAR-0070)
