Classification: Patrol Deputy

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office is currently building an ongoing eligibility list for the position of Patrol Deputy. FrontLine National Testing is required to be considered for this position.

Salary Information:

Section 20.1 Effective January 1, 2022, the hourly pay for all bargaining unit employees shall as outlined below:

Hourly	$23.00	$27.00

Section 20.2 Effective the first full pay period in 2023, the hourly rate for all bargaining unit member shall be increased by 2.0% as outlined below:

Hourly	$23.46	$27.54

Section 20.3 Effective the first full pay period in 2024, the hourly rate for all bargaining unit member shall be increased by 2.0% as outlined below:

Hourly	$23.93	$28.09

Section 20.4 Employees employed on the effective date of this Agreement shall be placed in the step of their assigned pay range to which they are entitled by their length of service using the operations start date.

New hire employees who enter the bargaining unit after the effective date of this Agreement shall begin at the entry level rate of the classification hired into except as provided in Section 20.8, and shall be advanced annually in the pay period which includes their anniversary date of hire, until the top step is reached.

Section 20.5 Longevity: In addition to the rates set forth above, bargaining unit members shall receive longevity as set forth below consistent with their continuous years of service with the Fayette County Sheriffs Office, regardless of classification:

Hiring Process:

Pass the National Testing Network examination;
Complete the NTN Personal History Questionnaire;

5. Ohio Peace Officer Training Council Basic Peace Officer Certificate;

Review of submitted documents to confirm the candidate meets the minimum requirements of the position;
Background investigation, including but not limited to:
1. Verification of credentials;
2. Examination of Criminal History;
3. Examination of Driving history;
4. Examination of Financial history;
5. Examination of Employment history;
6. Verification of personal information;
7. Contacting personal references;
8. Conduct home visit
9. Conduct neighbor visit(s)
Review of background investigation;

At any time during the hiring process it is discovered the candidate does not meed the minimum qualification for employment and/or an automatic disqualifier has been discovered the hiring process will end.

Automatic Disqualifiers:

Not possessing the minimum qualifications for the position;
Failing to be punctual in taking prescribed tests or undergoing evaluation;
Making fraudulent statements during interview, or on any application;
Failing to properly complete the application in the manner prescribed;
Failing score on the general aptitude examination;
Conviction of/admission to/discovery of any felony offense (expunged/sealed records included);
Conviction of/admission to/discovery of any violent misdemeanor convictions (expunged/sealed records included);
Conviction of/admission to/discovery of any falsification or misrepresentation;
Conviction of/admission to/discovery of any theft offense as an adult, with the exception of passing bad checks which will be determined on a case by case basis taking into consideration the totality of the circumstances;
Any drug related convictions (expunged/sealed records included);
Not being insurable under Fayette County's vehicle insurance provider
Any OVI/Physical Control conviction within three(3) years of the beginning of the hiring process, or more than one(1) OVI/Physical Control conviction during the applicants lifetime;
Any Driving Under Suspension or Reckless Operation arrests within three(3) years of the beginnin of the hiring process;
Multiple driving convictions creating a poor driving history;
Any use of Marijuana within two(2) years of the beginning of the hiring process;
Except Marijuana, illicit drug use within five(5) years of the beginning of the hiring process (any use of illicit drug use greater than five(5) years of the beginning of the hiring process will be evaluated on a case by case basis);
Demonstrated a pattern of behavior that has had a negative effect on the character or reputation of the applicant;
Demonstrated a pattern of lack of discretion in dealing with the public;
Difficulty obtaining and maintaining a positive employment record
Job instability
Work history relfects excessive tardiness and absenteeism, incompatability with co-workers and supervisors, carelessness, insubordination, inability to folow instructions;
Failed to conduct personal affairs in a mature and/or prudent manner;
Demonstrated a pattern of hostility, intimidation, aggression, coercion, or deception;
Demonstrated a pattern of behavior that is adverse of public opinion;
Failed to meet the obligations of the Ohio Child Support Statutes or court orders relating to the same;
A history of poor financial responsibility;
A history of moral turpitude relating sexual behavior;
A pattern of violating Ohio's Ethics Laws;
A pattern of behavior that would demonstrate excessive/illegal gambling;
A pattern of engaging in acts of discrimination against people based on their sex, race, religion, ethnic origin, age, and/or handicap

Eligibility List:
Those applicants that have successfully completed the hiring process, up to the conditional offer of employment and who were not selected for will be placed on the eligibility list to be considered for employment vacancies for a two(2) year period from the completion of their interview.

Those applicants who are on the eligibility list will not be required to complete the new application.
