Salary Information: $87,866 starting salary as of 5/1/25 with 12 hour shift schedule

Department Overview
The Willowbrook Police Department is currently comprised of 27 full-time sworn officers and three full-time non-sworn civilian employees. As a smaller agency we deploy our staff and resources in the best way possible to provide professional law enforcement services to our community. We take pride in our partnerships with other law enforcement agencies such as Metropolitan Emergency Response and Investigations Team (MERIT), Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Illinois Police Law Enforcement Alarm System (ILEAS), and DuPage Metropolitan Enforcement Group (DuMEG). These partnerships allow us to give the larger agency feel to our smaller department. Positions within the Department include patrol, investigations, drug task force officer, evidence technician, Community Oriented Policing Unit, juvenile officer, field training officer, firearms instructor, defesive tactics inctructor, and bicycle officer.

The Village is a diverse, highly service-oriented community located 15 miles west of downtown Chicago.
Population
Willowbrook has a population of 9,236 residents, however, the daytime population is estimated at approximately 30,000.
Job Requirements
In order to be eligible for the position of patrol officer with the Willowbrook Police Department, at the time of original appointment to the Police Department, a person must meet each of the following minimum requirements in addition to any other requirements imposed by law or ordinance:
Age: Must be a minimum of twenty-one (21) years of age, and a maximum of thirty-five (35) years of age, unless already a certified police officer; (unless otherwise exempt by statute).
US Citizen: United States citizen, or an individual who is not a citizen but who is legally authorized to work in the United States under federal law or is an individual against whom immigration action has been deferred by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services under the federal Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) process, subject to the individual being authorized under federal law to obtain, carry, or purchase or otherwise possess a firearm.
High School Grad/GED: Yes
Valid Driver’s License: Yes
Ability to Read/Speak English :Yes
Vision: Eyesight correctable to 20/20 in each eye, normal depth perception and no color blindness that would prevent an individual from performing the essential functions of the job.
College One of the following: Possess an Associate's degree or having completed at least sixty (60) semester hours or at least ninety (90) quarter hours of credit from an accredited college/university.The College requirement may be waived if one or more of the following applies:(1) the applicant has served for 24 months of honorable active duty in the United States Armed Forces and has not been discharged dishonorably or under circumstances other than honorable or(2) the applicant has served for 180 days of active duty in the United States Armed Forces in combat duty recognized by the Department of Defense and has not been discharged dishonorably or under circumstances other than honorable.Academy Certification: Must successfully complete academy training assigned after employment.

-Valid Illinois Peace Officer Wellness Evaluation Report (POWER) test card issued by a licensed agency issued within the last six (6) months. POWER Cards accepted from these licensed agencies: NIPSTA, Joliet Junior College, Triton College-No felony convictions involving moral turpitude, as specified in 65 ILCS 5/10-2.1-6;

Hiring Process: -Each phase of the process is pass / fail and required to proceed to the next. More information on the process can be found in the Village of Willowbrook Board of Police Commissioner Rules and Regulations located here.-Completion of Personal History Questionnaire (PHQ) and submit required documents no later than 5:00 p.m. December 8, 2025.-Completion of FrontLine National Exam and Public Safety Self-Assessment (PSSA) through National Testing Network (www.nationaltestingnetwork.com) by 5:00 p.m., December 8, 2025.
