Job Classification: Firefighter / Paramedic
The Huntley Fire Protection District is establishing a Firefighter/Paramedic hiring list, with two immediate openings. All candidates must take the Fire-TEAM exam through the National Testing Network by November 22, 2024.
This position requires the Candidate Physical Ability Test with ladder certification (CPAT with Ladder) dated within the last 12 months at the time of application.
The department requires the candidate to complete the Pre-Hire Questionnaire (PHQ) and Public Safety Self-Assessment (PSSA). You can access these questionnaires through your candidate account. NTN suggests completing the PHQ and PSSA as soon as possible so there is not a delay in your process.
Salary Information: As of May 1st, 2024, Starting Salary = $76,946.64

Schedule: The Huntley Fire District works a standard 24 / 48 shift schedule.Department Information: The Huntley Fire Protection District is one of the largest fire districts in McHenry and Kane County. Over 6,900 Fire Suppression, Emergency Medical Service, and Rescue calls are handled by our five fire stations. The district employs 82 sworn personnel and 20 part-time firefighters, paramedics and EMTs.
Our firefighters work with state-of-the-art apparatus and equipment supported by full-time staff members in EMS, Training, and Mobile Integrated Health. The district maintains several specialty teams which include Technical Rescue, Hazardous Materials, and Fire Investigation. The district is a member of MABAS Division 5 and Division 4/5 Lake and McHenry County Specialized Response Team. The district places a high degree of importance on the customer service it provides to both internal and external customers.
The Huntley Fire Protection District interacts with the community by providing a variety of programs such as slips, trips, and falls education, hosting a Fire Cadet and Intern Program, CPAT Training center with ladder climb, and providing CPR instruction classes.
Area Information: Serving Huntley / Algonquin / Lake-in-the-Hills / Hampshire / Gilberts / Pingree Grove as well as unincorporated McHenry and Kane Counties and nine miles of Interstate 90.Population: 65,000
Job Requirements
Age: Minimum 19 years of age to apply. Minimum 21 years of age at the time of hire but not exceeding 34 years of age by November 22, 2024, unless exempted by Illinois statute. Exemptions to the maximum age limit are allowed for military service and volunteer, paid-on-call, part-time, and full-time firefighters meeting certain conditions.

Necessary Certifications:
· Firefighter Basic Operations (Firefighter II) from the Illinois Office of State Fire Marshal.
· Illinois or Nationally Licensed EMT-P or PHRN at the time of conditional employment offer
· Current CPAT with Ladder Endorsement
