Department Overview: Led by Police Chief Greg Jones, the New Albany Police Department has 26 sworn positions, seven (7) sergeant positions, and non-sworn positions including police dispatchers and administrative support positions. More than 90% of our uniformed officers have obtained degrees and one-third of our officers are military veterans. Because the city values education and military service, employees with these credentials experience increased hourly compensation. The department is comprised of three patrol shifts, two detectives, school resource officers, a DARE officer, a preparedness officer, a K9 officer and an accreditation manager. The department also provides bike patrol and has established a drone program. The Police Department works diligently to provide great service to its community and has achieved a 90% satisfaction rating from the community in the latest community survey.
