NTN Tests - County Marshal PAT County Marshal Physical Abilities Test The King County, County Marshal Physical Ability Test is a nine event test that takes approximately 20 minutes to complete. Each event is designed to simulate physical job demands you may encounter as a King County, County Marshal. During the test you will wear a 20 pound vest to simulate the weight of work equipment. The nine events are done consecutively with no breaks in between. The events are as follows. # Event Description 1 Walk .25 mile You will walk at a brisk pace (no jogging or running allowed) for .25 miles. 2 Stair Climb After the .25 mile walk, you will go directly to the Stepmill Machine for the Stair Climb event. You will step for 1 minute on the Stepmill Machine. 3 Confined Space Crawl After the Stair Climb Event, you will crawl on hands and knees for 25 feet, then a low crawl on knees and elbows for 25 feet. 4 Walk .25 Mile After the Confined Space Crawl Event, you will walk at a brisk pace (no jogging or running allowed) another .25 miles. 5 Jog/Run Obstacle Run After the .25 mile walk, you will Jog 100 yards maneuvering in a zigzag pattern around cones and stepping/jumping over low hurdles. 6 CPR After the obstacle run, you will move to the CPR Event and roll a 165 lb. dummy over once. Then, you will perform chest compressions on a manikin for two minutes at 100 compressions a minute. 7 Walk .25 mile After the CPR Event, you will walk at a brisk pace (no jogging or running allowed) another .25 miles. 8 Subdue and Restrain You will finish your .25 mile walk at a cable machine for the Subdue and Restrain Event. At the Subdue and Restrain Event, you will pull out both machine cables approximately five feet by their handles. With cables in hand, you will side-step/walk a half circle, back and forth six times. Then you will set the cables down, turn around and push the machine cables out by the handles approximately five feet and side-step/walk a half circle, back and forth six times. 9 Rescue Drag After the Subdue and Restrain Event, you will drag a 165 lb dummy for 25 feet, go around a cone and then drag it 25 feet back to the starting point of the event to finish the test. There is an overall time limit for the test as well as maximum acceptable times for each task. Failing to perform a given task will result in failure of the test as a whole. This not a speed test but rather a demonstration of an overall fitness level and competence in critical tasks involving strength and agility. The test time limit and event time limits will be discussed at the testing center when you arrive to take the test.
